Hank Kehoe Comments from Hank:

1. Looking back on it, I think the Vietnam war was a tragic mistake.

2. I am proud of my service yet I have a great deal of respect for those who were conscientious objectors.

3. Seminary training was an excellent preparation for officer candidate school and probably boot camp.

4. The technical training I received in the Navy prepared me for a career -- much more so than my degree in philosophy.

Henry ("Hank") Patrick Kehoe was born in New York City on May 8, 1943, to Jeremiah Patrick Kehoe and Mary Ellen Kehoe (nee Flynn). He graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in New York and Maryknoll College in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Later he received his Master's Degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He was a veteran of the VietNam War serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Intrepid as a Naval Flight Officer. Upon honorable discharge from active duty, he continued serving in the Naval Reserves attaining the rank of Captain prior to retiring.

He retired from a long Civil Service career as a Program Executive with the Central Intelligence Agency on a variety of national intelligence programs and having received distinguished career and domain service medals and an innovation and achievement award for excellence during his many domestic and international assignments.

The essence of Hank's character emerged from his profound faith in God and an ambition to serve others - he was duty bound. He humbly dedicated himself to: 25 years of military service, 11 years of government contracting, 20 years of Civil Service, and 54 years of devotion to his family; all without expectation of recognition and reward.

He will be remembered for his patience, kindness, fun-loving spirit and being quick with a joke or pun. He was a life long swimmer, enjoyed travel and exploring, and carried his wonderful sense of fun and adventure wherever he went. Other hobbies were genealogy, cross stitch, puzzles, and card games with grandchildren. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends taking time to make unique and special memories.

Hank is survived by his wife, Karen; 6 children, and 10 grandchildren; a sister, Anne and a brother, Martin.

A service was held on January 1, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham, NC.

Interment of ashes, with full military honors, will occur at Arlington National Cemetery on August 21, 2023.
